General Transfer Information
The University is interested in enrolling transfer students on the Pittsburgh campus who will be academically successful. The holistic assessment of a candidate's likely success will take into consideration factors such as grade trends, cumulative grade point average, number of credits completed, level of challenge of curriculum, intended field of study, transferability of credits, coursework relevant to their school and/or major, and type(s) of institution(s) attended. The applicant must also be eligible to re-enroll at all institutions attended from the standpoint of his/her academic, financial, and disciplinary record.
Successful candidates usually present a strong record of previous college study. The Transfer Credit/GPA Guidelines for each academic unit do not guarantee admission, nor do they preclude it. Non-academic factors may also be considered if:
- You are an adult student
- You have significant work-related experience
- You possess particular outstanding talents
All transfer students, unless otherwise noted, are required to submit the following information:
- Completed admission application (exception—pharmacy)
- $45 application fee
- Official high school transcript(s)
- Official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions
- Required test scores (if applicable)
- Submission of personal statement and/or letters of recommendation are strongly encouraged

Transfer of Credit
The University of Pittsburgh generally accepts credits from institutions at which the applicant has received a grade of "C" or better in college-level coursework (not remedial) that corresponds to a course in our curriculum in content and credit value.
Pass/Fail courses may be accepted for transfer credit if it can be documented that a "P" grade corresponds to a grade of "C" or better.
To receive a University of Pittsburgh degree, you must complete, at a minimum, your last 30 credits at the University of Pittsburgh. Specific graduation and other requirements for different University of Pittsburgh schools, vary.

Transfer Application Deadlines/Terms of Admission
The table below indicates the terms for which different schools and colleges within the University accept transfer students and the recommended date and/or deadline by which you should apply. If a school practices a rolling admissions policy, there is no deadline for applying and applicants are considered for admission on a first-come, first-served basis. We continue to admit students until the class is full or until notified by the dean of the school that we must close admission in order to allow time for orientation and registration (usually a couple of weeks before the beginning of the semester).

Housing
If you are interested in living in one of our residence halls,
please note that on-campus housing is very limited and assigned
on a space-available basis. Because on-campus housing is limited,
priority is given to freshman and returning students who received
housing guarantees as freshmen. Remaining housing assignments will
be awarded based on the order in which the enrollment confirmation
deposit is received by the University. There is no guarantee
of on-campus housing. However, by returning the Admissions Data
form and submitting a tuition deposit, you initiate the first steps
towards obtaining on-campus housing.
The University's Off-Campus Living, located at
http://www.ocl.pitt.edu/,
provides listings and services for students seeking off-campus housing.
The campus's urban location is within walking or short bus distance to
neighborhoods with good housing options at affordable rates.
Free Port Authority Bus fare is available to you in Allegheny County with your valid student ID.
